Encourage members to use standards as part of the APHL/CDC co-sponsored Public Health Laboratory Interoperability Project (PHLIP) for bidirectional laboratory data exchange between primarily public health laboratories. We require all participants to map their local codes to LOINC and use in HL7 messaging. We provide assistance in finding the correct codes, where questions occur and submitting new codes where no appropriate codes are available.
