Recombinant offers healthcare providers and academic medical centers proven, leading-edge data warehousing and clinical intelligence solutions to deliver higher quality outcomes, accelerate personalized medicine, and lower costs. Our team of industry veterans is focused on improving the flow of reliable data to power clinical and research applications in a secure, compliant environment. Recombinant uses LOINC to achieve interoperability of laboratory test results. When laboratory data from multiple disparate source systems needs to be integrated, we create a set of association mappings from individual source system concepts to LOINC. Patient instance data is then transformed from original source system coding to LOINC using these association mappings.
The LOINC effort is housed in the Regenstrief Institute, an internationally respected non-profit medical research organization associated with Indiana University. LOINC was initiated in 1994 by the Regenstrief Institute and developed by Regenstrief and the LOINC committee as a response to the demand for electronic movement of clinical data from laboratories that produce the data to hospitals, physician's offices, and payers who use the data for clinical care and management purposes.
We are in the process of mapping the tests done at our facility to LOINC codes in preparation for the electronic exchange of data with EMR's and government agencies.
Our laboratory application is STARLIMS, and LOINC is used in electronic reporting from the program. Organisms and conditions are flagged by LOINC (and SNOMED) codes and reports are generated automatically in HL7 messages.
ScyTek Laboratories, Inc. a Utah, USA corporation involved in the manufacture of diagnostic reagents Special Stains, Antibodies, Hematology, Microbiology, Hematoxlyn
Our laboratory tests are mapped to LOINC after the test is created into our laboratory package.
We have assigned LOINC to all laboratory tests in our system standard laboratory system (Sunquest). This information is available to be sent our via interface, but we are not doing this at this time. We also store a LOINC with all order codes in our electronic health record system (Epic Epicare). We use the information there to help compare similar information coming from different reporting lab systems.
We use LOINC identifiers to report and track patient results in HL7 messaging.
