Invitation to the 2007 Public Clinical LOINC® Meeting

LOINC (Logical Observation Identifier Names and Codes) is a no-cost database of over 35,000 names and codes that identify laboratory, clinical, and HIPAA attachment variables.  LOINC is copywritten to assure its integrity and to avoid secondary variants, but it is provided at no-cost.

1. To educate users about the use and utility of LOINC codes.
2. Continue work to review proposals for new names and codes

Why LOINC?
As the practice, regulation, and reimbursement of medicine become more complicated, we need a standard way to identify tests, and other clinical measurements-a common language for building electronic medical records, managing the clinical enterprise, doing research and work together-so we can speak the same language especially in terms of analyzing biological samples and interpreting test results. LOINC codes provide that language.

• The meetings will be held at Intermountain Health Care, Lake Park Facility, 4646 West Lake Park Blvd , Salt Lake City, UT 84120, in Auditorium A, which is on the 1st floor of the building.

Directions to IHC Lake Park Facility from SLC International Airport

• From the airport, follow Bangerter Highway south to Lake Park Blvd (2400 South).

• Turn right on Lake Park Blvd and follow the road for approximately 1 mile to the IHC facility.
• Turn right into the IHC facility.
• Visitor parking is on the northeast part of the parking lot (closest to the main entrance).
• Enter through the main entrance and check in with security.
