On May 6, 2004, Secretary Thompson announced additional standards for the electronic exchange of clinical health information to be adopted across the federal government.

the electronic exchange of clinical health information to be adopted
across the federal government. These new standard include the use of
LOINC to standardize the electronic exchange of laboratory test orders
and drug label section headers .
