Clinical practice improvement activity (CPIA) is a performance category under the Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS). The CPIA section is used to capture clinical practice improvement activities, such as care coordination, shared decision-making, safety checklists, and expanded practice access. This term was created for, but not limited in use to, the HL7 CDA Quality Reporting Document Architecture (QRDA) III document.
