Left ventricular Maximum circumferential strain by US 3D
Active
Part Description
LP208533-2 Circumferential strain.max
Strain is defined as the deformation of a solid object in response to an applied force. Cardiac strain has multiple components, such as circumferential, longitudinal, and radial, and strain can be either perpendicular or parallel (shear) to the force that is applied. Principal strain is the direction of greatest deformation. Strain is calculated as the change in length over a particular time period relative to the original length and is expressed as a percent. Circumferential and longitudinal strain are typically negative, meaning shortening, while radial strain is normally a positive value, indicating lengthening. The strain rate is the change in strain over time and has the unit of measure s^-1. PMID: 21406664
