The main active metabolite of Venlafaxine, a drug that is a selective inhibitor of both norepinephrine and serotonin reuptake indicated for manic depression and/or obsessive compulsive disorder. O-desmethylvenlafaxine is also marketed and sold distinctly under the brand name Pristiq. Venlafaxine is contraindicated in patients taking MAOI (Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors).
