LP14981-2 ALPRAZolam
Alprazolam (brand name Xanax) is a short-acting anxiolytic of the benzodiazepine class of psychoactive drugs, used to treat anxiety and panic disorders. It works by binding to gamma aminobutyric acid (GABA) receptors in the brain to increase GABA-mediated synaptic inhibition. Alprazolam is also sometimes used to treat depression, fear of open spaces (agoraphobia), and premenstrual syndrome. Alprazolam can be habit-forming and some of the more serious potential side effects are: shortness of breath, seizures, hallucinating, severe skin rash, yellowing of the skin or eyes, depression, memory problems, confusion, problems with speech, unusual changes in behavior or mood, and suicidal thoughts.
