Estradiol high sensitivity
Active
Description
Low concentrations of estradiol can be measured by high sensitivity methods for the diagnosis of hormone-related disorders in both females and males. In females, estradiol levels are useful for determining menopausal status, estrogen deficiency, monitoring anti-estrogen treatment, and predicting risk of osteoporosis and cardiovascular disease. In males, estradiol levels are useful for evaluation of feminization (e.g. gynecomastia) and diagnosis of estrogen-producing neoplasms. Estradiol levels are also important for diagnosing precocious and delayed puberty in females, and, to a lesser degree, males. PMID: 20077073 Source: Regenstrief LOINC, PMID: 20077073
