Active
Description
Normal stool specimens are made up of 25% solid matter and 75% water. Fecal hyperhydration is one of the first signs of an irritated colon. Many clinicians measure the relative water content of feces, together with microscopic and chemical analysis, to evaluate digestive syndromes such as diarrhea, constipation, and malabsorption.
