Description

An Observation unit represents any setting where a patient is being observed, often to help the clinician decide if the patient needs to be admitted as an inpatient or can be discharged. Observation units may be in the emergency department or other areas of the hospital. In some cases, special areas are set up and may include observation beds. Source: Regenstrief LOINC
