Oropouche virus (OROV) was isolated in approximately 1955 in Trinidad and Tobago [PMID: 28167595] . Following the discovery OROV has caused several outbreaks and infections in the Brazilian Amazon [PMID: 31801869] . OROV contains three single-stranded negative sense segments of genomic RNA. [PMID: 28167595] . OROV belongs to the family Peribunyaviridae, genus Orthobunyavirus [NCBI:]. The primary vector indicated is Culicoides paraenesis; however, Culex quinquefasciatus and Culex sp. mosquitoes are also associated with transmission. OROV presents as acute febrile illness with symptoms including fever, chills, headaches, myalgia, and joint pain [PMID: 31801869] . Source: Regenstrief LOINC
