Version 2.77

Description

LDH exists in five molecular forms(isoenzymes). LDH isoenzymes may be followed to evaluate chest pain. Normally, LD1 is less than LD2. Patients with acute myocardial infarct(AMI), hemolytic anemia, megaloblastic anemia and, occasionally, renal injury, have LD1/LD2 "flip" where LD2 is greater than LD1. An association between LD1 and testicular seminoma has also been recognized. Information from Jacobs and DeMott Laboratory Test Handbook, 5th edition, DS Jacobs, WR DeMott and DK Oxley, 2001.
