Part Descriptions
LP16041-3 Aztreonam
Aztreonam (Azactam®) is a monocyclic beta-lactam antibiotic (a monobactam) originally isolated from Chromobacterium violaceum. It is resistant to some beta-lactamases, but is inactivated by extended-spectrum beta-lactamases. Aztreonam is effective against gram-negative bacteria, including Pseudomonas aeruginosa. It is not effective against gram-positive bacteria or anaerobes. Aztreonam has to be administered intravenously, as the compound is poorly absorbed when given orally. Side-effects include reactions at the injection site, diarrhea and other gastro-intestinal symptoms. There is limited cross-reactivity between aztreonam and other beta-lactam antibiotics, and it is generally considered safe to admininister aztreonam to patients allergic to penicillin.

LP16041-3 Aztreonam
A monocyclic beta-lactam antibiotic originally isolated from Chromobacterium violaceum. It is resistant to beta-lactamases and is used in gram-negative infections, especially of the meninges, bladder, and kidneys. It may cause a superinfection with gram-positive organisms.

LP434420-8 MIC.VOC detection
MIC.VOC detects bacterial growth using an array of chemical small molecule sensors that change color in the presence of various metabolic gases (volatile organic compounds) emitted by growing bacteria during incubation to determine minimum inhibitory concentrations (MIC).
