Active
97607-6 POPEth [Mass/volume] in Blood
Part Descriptions
LP426580-9 Phosphatidylethanol 16:0-18:1
Phosphatidylethanols (PEths) are a marker of alcohol consumption. PEths are abnormal phospholipids that are formed from phosphatidylcholines in the presence of alcohol, where the end products are choline and PEths. They have a half-life of about 4 days and are can detect lower levels of alcohol consumption compared to other biomarkers such as carbohydrate deficient transferrin. POPEth (1-palmitoyl-2-oleoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphoethanol), PLPEth (1-palmitoyl-2-linoleoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphoethanol), and DOPEth (1,2-dioleoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphoethanol) are the most common PEths found in blood.
