Part Descriptions

LP16842-4   Vanadium
A metallic element with the atomic symbol V, atomic number 23, and atomic weight 50.94. It is used in the manufacture of vanadium steel. Prolonged exposure can lead to chronic intoxication caused by absorption usually via the lungs. Source: National Library of Medicine, MeSH 2006

LP16842-4   Vanadium
Vanadium is an essential metallic element present in the environment in low levels and often used to manufacture steel. Studies have shown that it is essential for mammalian growth and reproduction. There is a low risk of suffering from a deficiency in vanadium; however, vanadium toxicity can occur and in some cases at fairly low intake levels. PMID: 8738553 Vanadium is a recognized occupation hazard and exposure primarily occurs via inhalation or ingestion. Source: Regenstrief LOINC

LP32035-5   Creatinine
Creatinine or creatine anhydride, is a breakdown product of creatine phosphate in muscle. The loss of water molecule from creatine results in the formation of creatinine. It is transferred to the kidneys by blood plasma, whereupon it is eliminated by glomular filtration and partial tubular excretion. Creatinine is usually produced at a fairly constant rate and measuring its serum level is a simple test. A rise in blood creatinine levels is observed only with marked damage to functioning nephrons; therefore this test is not suitable for detecting early kidney disease. Creatine and creatinine are metabolized in the kidneys, muscle, liver and pancreas.
