Psuedocasts are structures often seen in urine sediment that may resemble and be confused for hyaline casts. The pseudocast can be colorless like the hyaline cast, but can also have pigments that are derived from hemoglobin, myoglobin, or bilirubin present in the urine. The pseudocast is not formed from the secretions of Tamm-Horsfall mucoprotein by the renal tubules like true hyaline casts are. Unlike hyaline casts, pseudocasts lack uniformity in size and shape.
