The thrombin clotting time (TCT), also known as the thrombin time (TT), is a coagulation assay which is usually performed to detect the therapeutic level of the anticoagulant heparin. It can also detect the presence of a fibrinogen abnormality. It is sometimes used in lupus anticoagulant screening, along with reptilase time, as a reflex test if any of the screening test results are out of range in order to detect the presence of heparin, dysfibrogenemia, or hypofibrogenemia.
