American house dust mite IgG Ab [Presence] in Serum
Active
Part Descriptions
LP13994-6 Dermatophagoides farinae
The most important House dust mites are Dermatophagoides farinae, which is more common in drier areas, and D. pteronyssinus. D. farinae has many of the same characteristics as D. pteronyssinus, which co-exists with the Storage mite Blomia tropicalis in subtropical and tropical regions as a major source of allergens. Recent evidence shows that even these very general boundaries are blurring and that in many instances all 3 mite species may be highly relevant, causing frequent sensitisation.
House dust mites cause symptoms such as perennial-type asthma, rhinitis and conjunctivitis, often with nocturnal or early morning episodes

Dermatophagoides farinae, a species of house dust mite, is found worldwide but most abundant in drier regions. PMID: 15553602 Groups I and II, Der f 1 and Der f 2, are the most important allergenic proteins in D. farinae and exist as a number of isoforms. The recombinant forms, rDer f 1 and rDer f 2, are highly homologous to the native forms. PMID: 2732406

- Change Reason
- The Property has been changed from ACnc to Threshold to reflect the new model for ordinal terms where results are based on a cut-off value.; The PrThr property is used for LOINC terms whose results are reported using an ordered categorical scale, regardless of whether or not an internal threshold was used to make that determination. This change was approved by the Laboratory LOINC Committee in June 2016.
