2161-8 Creatinine [Mass/volume] in Urine
Part Descriptions
LP14355-9 Creatinine
Creatinine or creatine anhydride, is a breakdown product of creatine phosphate in muscle. The loss of water molecule from creatine results in the formation of creatinine. It is transferred to the kidneys by blood plasma, whereupon it is eliminated by glomular filtration and partial tubular excretion. Creatinine is usually produced at a fairly constant rate and measuring its serum level is a simple test. A rise in blood creatinine levels is observed only with marked damage to functioning nephrons; therefore this test is not suitable for detecting early kidney disease. Creatine and creatinine are metabolized in the kidneys, muscle, liver and pancreas.

2756-5 pH of Urine
Part Descriptions
LP14752-7 pH
pH is a measure of the acidity or basicity of a solution. It is defined as the cologarithm of dissolved hydrogen ions (H+). Hydrogen ion activity coefficients cannot be measured experimentally, so they are based on theoretical calculations. The pH scale is not an absolute one, it is relative to a set of internationally established standard solutions. pH 7.0 is considered neutral.

LP14752-7 pH
Potentia Hydrogenii, commonly known as pH, is a quantitative measurement of the acidity or basicity of a substance. A substance's pH value is based on a relative scale from 1-14 depending on the substance's proton ion concentration (H+). A higher proton ion concentration results in a lower pH value. Therefore, a pH value between 0 and 7 is an acidic substance whereas a pH value between 7 and 14 is an alkaline/basic substance. A pH value of exactly 7 is a neutral substance. [https://labtestsonline.org/understanding/analytes/SearchForm?Search=pH&action_ProcessSphinxSearchForm=Go] The specific pH value of the blood is crucial in maintaining bodily functions. When the blood pH value is below normal range it is called acidosis. When the blood pH value is above normal range, it is called alkadosis. Acidosis/alkadosis can be divided into two categories: metabolic and respiratory. [https://labtestsonline.org/understanding/analytes/blood-gases/tab/test/]

2965-2 Specific gravity of Urine
Part Descriptions
LP15865-6 Specific gravity
Specific gravity (also known as relative density ) is a measure of the density of a material. It is dimensionless, and is equal to the density of the material divided by some reference density (most often the density of water, but sometimes the density of air when working with gases). Since water's density is 1.0 - 103 kg m3 in SI units, the relative density of a material is approximately the density of the material measured in kg m3 divided by 1000 (the density of water). Water's density can also be measured as nearly one gram per cubic centimeter (at maximum density) in metric units. The relative density therefore has nearly the same value as the density of the material expressed in grams per cubic centimeter, but without any units of measurement. Specific gravity is often an ambiguous term and it is often expressed at a given temperature.

- Changed property from Acnc based on updated procedure information.; The PrThr property is used for LOINC terms whose results are reported using an ordered categorical scale, regardless of whether or not an internal threshold was used to make that determination. This change was approved by the Laboratory LOINC Committee in June 2016.

32710-6 Nitrite [Presence] in Urine
Part Descriptions
LP14270-0 Nitrite
Nitric oxide is converted to nitrate (NO3-) and nitrite (NO2-), both inorganic ions that occur naturally in the soil, water and some foods. Nitrates are relatively non-toxic but can become toxic when converted to nitrites either in food or in the digestive tract. In animals, pigs are more susceptible to nitrite poisoning than cattle and sheep. PMCID: PMC4170561 Pigs have been poisoned by drinking the condensed water from ventilating shafts in piggeries and after eating plaster board which had fallen into their pens after becoming soaked with this material. Both feed and water consumption need to be considered when encountering nitrate toxicity problems.
