Part Descriptions
LP17146-9 Haemophilus sp
Haemophilus species are gram-negative coccobacilli that grow more readily in a CO2-enhanced environment and cause otitis media, sinusitis, tracheobronchitis, pneumonia, cellulitis, epiglottitis, and chancroid. The encapsulated type b H influenza is the most virulent type of haemophilus and can penetrate the capillaries, after which it travels to the meninges and can lead to meningitis in children under two. A vaccination against type b H influenza has been developed and proven efffective. Unencapsulated types of haemophilus are less virulent than type b H influenza and are unable to penetrate the capillaries.[https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK8458/]
