Ureaplasma parvum is a mycoplasm that includes select serovars that were previously typed as Ureaplasma urealyticum. Serovars 1, 3, 6 and 14 are now part of species U. parvum based on their slightly smaller genome size. U. parvum is associated with various diseases, including male urethritis, chorioamnionitis, adverse pregnancy outcomes, neonatal meningitis, neonatal respiratory distress syndrome (RDS), pelvic inflammatory disease, and pyelonephritis.
