Streptococcus dysgalactiae subspecies equisimilis DNA [Presence] in Specimen by NAA with probe detection
Active
Term Description
This term was created for (but not limited to) a Streptococcus species multiplex Taqman® real-time PCR assay, which identifies Streptococcus species within Lancefield group C and G. The multiplex assay detects genes that encode for the penicillin binding protein genes (pbp2b) of Streptococcus anginosus, S. constellatus, and S. intermedius; the intermedialysin (ily) gene of S. intermedius; the chaperonin (cpn60) gene of S. dysgalactiae subsp equisimilus; and the 16S-23S intergenic spacer region (16S-23S ITS) of S. constellatus. Real-time PCR method is more rapid and cost-effective compared to identification of these organisms by 16S sequencing.

Part Description
LP145780-5 Streptococcus dysgalactiae subspecies equisimilis
Streptococcus dysgalactiae subspecies equisimilis (SDSE) is a species of Streptococcus and recognized as an important bacterial pathogen. Many of the virulence factors identified in Streptococcus pyogenes are also found in SDSE strains. As a result, the clinical spectrum of diseases caused by SDSE closely resembles S. pyogenes infections. Recent studies have shown increasing numbers of invasive SDSE infections, especially immunocompromised patients. PMID: 19635028
