Band form neutrophils/Leukocytes [Pure number fraction] in Body fluid by Manual count

Term Description
Because of the confusion that occurs in countries that report results as both decimal fraction and percent, this property was created to represent decimal fractions that are reported without units.
Part Descriptions
LP15070-3 Neutrophils.band form
A band cell (or band neutrophil) is a white blood cell undergoing granulopoiesis. It is derived from a metamyelocyte which eventually will become a mature granulocyte. In contrat to other neutrophils, band neutrophils possess a curved nucleus rather than a lobar one.

LP157588-7 Leukocytes
Leukocytes or white blood cells (WBCs) are immune cells that fight infection, neoplasms and other inflammatory conditions, and mediate allergic responses. There are five types of WBCs normally present in the circulation that are all derived from a similar stem cell in the bone marrow. The five type of WBCs are divided into two groups based on the presence or absence of granules in the cytoplasm. The granulocytes include the neutrophils, basophils and eosinophils. The non-granulocytes include the lymphocytes and the monocytes. The neutrophils fight infection by ingesting and digesting bacteria. Eosinophils and basophils respond to allergic reactions and are capable of ingesting antigen-antibody complexes. Monocytes phagocytose bacteria and release interferon to stimulate the immune system. Lymphocytes are divided into T-cells and B-cells. T-cell immunity is cellular and involves the activation of phagocytes and B-cell immunity uses antibodies to fight infection. Both elevated and low leukocyte counts can be markers of infection and malignancy, and low leukocyte counts are associated with a variety of primary and secondary immunodeficiencies, depending on the WBC type(s) that are out of range. LP7238-1 Body fld
The LOINC "Body fld" System represents body fluids other than serum, plasma, blood, urine, and cerebrospinal fluid. When a LOINC term with the System "Body fld" is used, the specific specimen source or body fluid type should be reported elsewhere with the result. Where more specific terms for pleural, peritoneal, synovial fluid, etc. exist, we encourage you to use the more specific terms. In contrast to "Body fld", the System "Asp" in LOINC represents the fluid withdrawn during an aspiration procedure from an abnormal collection of fluid, such as from an abscess or cyst. "Asp" is used for abnormal fluid collections that are aspirated, while "Body fld" is used for named body fluids, such as synovial fluid or peritoneal fluid, that are not inherently pathologic.
