74668-5 Gardnerella vaginalis DNA [Log #/volume] in Vaginal fluid by NAA with probe detection
Part Descriptions
LP17121-2 Gardnerella vaginalis
The only species in the genus Gardnerella previously identified as Haemophilus vaginalis. This bacterium, also isolated from the female genital tract of healthy women, is implicated in the cause of bacterial vaginosis (vaginosis, bacterial). It occasionally causes postpartum bacteremia and bacteremia following a transurethral resection of the prostate.

74669-3 Lactobacillus sp DNA [Log #/volume] in Vaginal fluid by NAA with probe detection
Part Descriptions
LP21192-7 Lactobacillus sp
Lactobacillus is a genus of Gram-positive facultative anaerobic or microaerophilic bacteria. They are a major part of the lactic acid bacteria group, named as such because most of its members convert lactose and other sugars to lactic acid. They are common and usually benign. In humans they are present in the vagina and the gastrointestinal tract, where they are symbiotic and make up a small portion of the gut flora. Many species are prominent in decaying plant material. The production of lactic acid makes its environment acidic, which inhibits the growth of some harmful bacteria.

69568-4 Bacterial vaginosis [Interpretation] in Vaginal fluid Qualitative
Term Description
This term refers to the overall interpretation (positive, negative, indeterminant) for the presence of bacterial vaginosis based on the total score [LOINC: 69564-3] for Atopobium vaginae (AV), Bacterial Vaginosis-Associated Bacterium 2 (BVAB2) and Megasphaera species Type 1 (Mega1).

Part Descriptions
LP63734-5 Bacterial vaginosis
Bacterial vaginosis (BV) is the most common cause of vaginal infection. It is less commonly referred to as vaginal bacteriosis. It is not considered to be a sexually transmitted infection. BV is not transmitted through sexual intercourse but is more common in women who are sexually active. BV is caused by an imbalance of naturally occurring bacterial flora and should not be confused with yeast infection (candidiasis), or infection with Trichomonas vaginalis (trichomoniasis), which are not caused by bacteria.
