Often BPAP is incorrectly referred to as "BiPAP". BiPAP® is the trade name of a portable ventilator manufactured by Respironics Corporation and is just one of many ventilators that can deliver bi-level positive airway pressure (BPAP). BiPAP® delivers two levels of pressure by mask in response to patient flow. It is intended to support ventilation in a non-invasive way. In contrast, BIPAP (biphasic positive airway pressure) is a mode of ventilation developed for full ventilator support in intensive care settings.
