HLA class I and II IgG panel - Serum or Plasma by Immunoassay
Active
72322-1 HLA-A+B+C (class I) IgG Ab [Presence] in Serum or Plasma by Immunoassay
Term Description
IgG antibodies to HLA Class I (HLA-A-B-C) antigens are detected in patient's serum or plasma by EIA methods. Results are based on a threshold; significantly greater (e.g. 2X) absorbency compared to the negative control is considered positive. This code is based on, but not exclusive to, the submitter's test kit, Lifecodes QuikScreen.

LP156720-7 HLA-A+B+C Ab.IgG
The major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class I (A, B, and C) and II (DP, DM, DOA, DOB, DQ, and DR) in the human leukocyte antigen (HLA) system contains a large number of genes involved in immune system function in humans. The proteins encoded by some genes form antigens. HLA class I and II antigens are widely distributed on all nucleated cells and carried by platelets.
Antibodies specific to HLA class I and II antigens can be acquired through alloimmunization due to pregnancy, transfusion of blood products, or previous transplants. Alloimmunization can lead to production of antibodies in approximately one third of individuals. The presence of antibodies, specifically IgG, can affect the survival of transplant allografts or transfused platelets in sensitized individuals. Various testing methods are used to detect antibodies to HLA antigens.

- The PrThr property is used for LOINC terms whose results are reported using an ordered categorical scale, regardless of whether or not an internal threshold was used to make that determination. This change was approved by the Laboratory LOINC Committee in June 2016.; The EIA method, which was always intended to cover more than just enzyme-linked immunoassay and whose display name for the long common name has always been Immunoassay, was renamed IA in order to eliminate ambiguity about whether the method has a broader meaning than just enzyme-linked immunoassay. Likewise, EIA.rapid was renamed IA.rapid. These changes were approved by the Laboratory LOINC Committee in June 2016.

LP193956-2 HLA-A Ab.IgG
HLA-A, along with HLA-B and HLA-C, is a class I major histocompatibility complex (MHC) receptor, which are keys to antigen presentation in the immune system. It is coded by the HLA-A gene located at human chromosome 6p21.3. The class I molecules are heterodimers composed of one alpha subunit (the product of the class I gene) and a beta subunit, beta2 microglobulin. The high variability of this class of molecules is likely key to protecting the humans from pathogens, as it is more likely that a subset of the population will be highly immune to any given pathogen, and this diversity is reflected in the hundreds to thousands of possible alleles. However, the variability in HLA is also the reason for transplant rejection, and the detection of HLA antibodies in the transplant recipient has become a critical pre-transplant assessment. LP18320-9 HLA-B
Human Leukocyte Antigen B*27 (subtypes B*2701-2724) is a class I surface antigen encoded by the B locus in the major histocompatibility complex (MHC) on chromosome 6. It presents microbial antigens to T-cells and is strongly associated with certain immunity diseases (SpA spondyloarthropathies). In the general population, about 8% Caucasian, 4% African, 2-9% Chinese, and 0.1-0.5% Japanese have the HLA-B27 antigen. In Northern Scandinavia (Lapland), 24% of people are HLA-B27 positive while 1.8% have ankylosing spondylitis (AS). Mystery:The relationship between HLA-B27 and many diseases has not yet been fully elucidated. Though it is associated with a wide range of pathology, it does not appear to be the sole mediator in development of disease. For example, while nearly all people with ankylosing spondylitis (AS) are HLA-B27 positive, only a fraction of people with HLA-B27 ever develop AS.

Part Descriptions
LP190781-7 HLA-DP & DQ & DR (class II) Ab.IgG panel

- The EIA method, which was always intended to cover more than just enzyme-linked immunoassay and whose display name for the long common name has always been Immunoassay, was renamed IA in order to eliminate ambiguity about whether the method has a broader meaning than just enzyme-linked immunoassay. Likewise, EIA.rapid was renamed IA.rapid. These changes were approved by the Laboratory LOINC Committee in June 2016.

77640-1 HLA class I and II IgG Ab in Serum or Plasma by Immunoassay [interpretation] Narrative
Term Description
Interpretation term for an HLA assay that identifies specific HLA class I (A, B and C) and class II (DP, DQ and DR) antibodies.
Source: Regenstrief LOINC
Part Descriptions
LP190783-3 HLA class I & II Ab.IgG
