97051-7 Interferon beta [Mass/volume] in Serum or Plasma
Part Descriptions
LP18172-4 Interferon.beta
Beta interferon is a recombinant protein which is chemically identical to or similar to endogenous interferon beta with antiviral and anti-tumor activities. Endogenous interferons beta are cytokines produced by nucleated cells (predominantly natural killer cells) upon exposure to live or inactivated virus, double-stranded RNA or bacterial products. These agents bind to specific cell-surface receptors, resulting in the transcription and translation of genes with an interferon-specific response element. The proteins so produced mediate many complex effects, including antiviral (the most important being inhibition of viral protein synthesis), antiproliferative and immune modulating effects. The recombinant therapeutic forms of interferon beta are interferon beta 1-a and interferon beta 1-b.

13629-1 Interleukin 1 beta [Mass/volume] in Serum or Plasma
Part Descriptions
LP18509-7 Interleukin 1 beta
Interleukin 1, beta, also known as IL1B, is a cytokine protein which in humans is encoded by the IL1B gene. IL-1β precursor is cleaved by caspase 1 (interleukin 1 beta convertase). Cytosolic thiol protease cleaves the product to form mature IL-1β.
A number of studies associate the gene with susceptibility to schizophrenia

LP18509-7 Interleukin 1 beta
The Interleukins belong to the family termed cytokines. They are peptides used by immune and inflammatory cells to communicate and control cell operations. The cytokines have some similar actions to the Growth Factors but Growth Factors regulate proliferation of non-immune cells. Interleukin 1b is a 17,500 molecular weight peptide derived primarily from macrophages, fibroblasts, endothelial cells, and B cells. The major target cells are T and B cells, Fibroblasts, and Hepatocytes and it has pyrogenic activity. Interleukin 1b shares a receptor with Interleukin 1a although they are significantly different structurally. Interleukin 1b promotes antigen specific immune responses, inflammation, secretion, Colony Stimulating Factors, proteoglycanase, collagenase, and gelatinase activity, acute phase response, and cartilage resorption. Interleukin 1b increases accumulation of cell-associated and extracellular arachadonic acid, and induces release of Interleukin 6.

26848-2 Interleukin 10 [Mass/volume] in Serum or Plasma
Part Descriptions
LP21163-8 Interleukin 10
Interleukin-10 (IL-10 or IL10), also known as human cytokine synthesis inhibitory factor (CSIF), is an anti-inflammatory cytokine. In humans IL-10 is encoded by the IL10 gene.
This cytokine is produced primarily by monocytes and to a lesser extent by lymphocytes. This cytokine has pleiotropic effects in immunoregulation and inflammation. It down-regulates the expression of Th1 cytokines, MHC class II antigens, and costimulatory molecules on macrophages. It also enhances B cell survival, proliferation, and antibody production. This cytokine can block NF-κB activity, and is involved in the regulation of the JAK-STAT signaling pathway.

LP16470-4 Interleukin 2
Interleukin-2 (IL-2) is an interleukin, a type of cytokine immune system signaling molecule, which is a leukocytotrophic hormone that is instrumental in the body's natural response to microbial infection and in discriminating between foreign (non-self) and self. IL-2 mediates its effects by binding to IL-2 receptors, which are expressed by lymphocytes, the cells that are responsible for immunity.

The Interleukins belong to the family termed cytokines. They are peptides used by immune and inflammatory cells to communicate and control cell operations. The cytokines have some similar actions to the Growth Factors but Growth Factors regulate proliferation of non-immune cells. Interleukin 2 is a 15,000 molecular weight glycoprotein originally called T Cell Growth Factor. It is released primarily by activated T Cells. Its target cells include T and B cells, Natural Killer Cells, and Lymphokine-activated Killer Cells. Interleukin 2 increases alloantigen responses and improves recovery of immune function. It also induces production of other lymphokines including Tumor Necrosis Factor, g Interferon, and Interleukin 6. It is bound to specific Interleukin 2 receptors located on activated T cells, resting and activated B cells, macrophages, and mast cells.

Part Descriptions
LP17957-9 Interleukin 2 receptor.soluble
Interleukin-2 (IL-2) is a cytokine that regulates the differentiation and proliferation of immune cells. The IL-2 receptor (IL-2R) has three subunits, and different combinations of these subunits have varying affinity for IL-2. The soluble form of the IL-2 receptor (sIL-2R) does not have cell membrane and cytoplasmic components but retains the ability to bind IL-2. Elevated sIL-2R in serum and other body fluids may be a marker for the advanced stages of certain cancer as well as autoimmune diseases. PMID: 18830208

Part Descriptions
LP16472-0 Interleukin 4
Interleukin-4, abbreviated IL-4, is a cytokine that induces differentiation of naive helper T cells (Th0 cells) to Th2 cells. Upon activation by IL-4, Th2 cells subsequently produce additional IL-4. The cell that initially produces IL-4, thus inducing Th0 differentiation, has not been identified, but recent studies suggest that basophils may be the effector cell.
It has many biological roles, including the stimulation of activated B-cell and T-cell proliferation, and the differentiation of CD4+ T-cells into Th2 cells. It is a key regulator in humoral and adaptive immunity. IL-4 induces B-cell class switching to IgE, and up-regulates MHC class II production. Overproduction of IL-4 is associated with allergies.

Its primary target cells are B cells and eosinophils. Interleukin 5 activates B cell differentiation. Its actions are similar to Interleukin 3. Interleukin 5 primes basophils for agonist-induced generation of Leukotriene C4. It is stimulated by Interleukin 2. Interleukin 5 stimulates growth and differentiation of eosinophil progenitor without influencing cells committed to neutrophils, basophils, or monocytes. It enhances responsiveness of eosinophils inducing polarization, shape change, chemotaxis, cytotoxity, oxygen radical release and prolongs survival.

Part Descriptions
LP16474-6 Interleukin 6
Interleukin-6 (IL-6) is a protein that in humans is encoded by the IL6 gene.
IL-6 is an interleukin that acts as both a pro-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory cytokine. It is secreted by T cells and macrophages to stimulate immune response to trauma, especially burns or other tissue damage leading to inflammation. In terms of host response to a foreign pathogen, IL-6 has been shown, in mice, to be required for resistance against the bacterium, Streptococcus pneumoniae. IL-6 is also a "myokine," a cytokine produced from muscle, and is elevated in response to muscle contraction. It is significantly elevated with exercise, and precedes the appearance of other cytokines in the circulation. During exercise, it is thought to act in a hormone-like manner to mobilize extracellular substrates and/or augment substrate delivery. Additionally, osteoblasts secrete IL-6 to stimulate osteoclast formation. Smooth muscle cells in the tunica media of many blood vessels also produce IL-6 as a pro-inflammatory cytokine. IL-6's role as an anti-inflammatory cytokine is mediated through its inhibitory effects on TNF-alpha and IL-1, and activation of IL-1ra and IL-10.

Interleukin 6 is a 25,000 molecular weight glycoprotein produced primarily in macrophages, T cells, fibroblasts and endothelial cells. Its primary target cells are T and B cells and neutrophils. Its main actions are involvement in terminal differentiation of B cells to antibody secreting plasma cells, activation of T cells and stimulation of hepatocyte production of acute phase proteins. Interleukin stimulates Prolactin, Growth Hormone, Luteinizing Hormone, Follicle Stimulating Hormone and ACTH. Release is stimulated by Interleukin 1a and b, Vasoactive Intestinal Polypeptide, and Prostaglandin E2. Release is not affected by aspirin or indomethacin. Levels are elevated in multiple myeloma, rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, meningococcus meningitis and infectious peritonitis.

Part Descriptions
LP30829-3 Interleukin 8
Interleukin-8 (IL-8) is a chemokine produced by macrophages and other cell types such as epithelial cells. It is also synthesized by endothelial cells, which store IL-8 in their storage vesicles, the Weibel-Palade bodies. In humans, the interleukin-8 protein is encoded by the IL8 gene.
Interleukin-8 is often associated with inflammation. As an example, it has been cited as a proinflammatory mediator in gingivitis and psoriasis. The fact that Interleukin-8 secretion is increased by oxidant stress and conversely, Interleukin-8, by causing recruitment of inflammatory cells induces a further increase in oxidant stress mediators, makes it a key parameter in localized inflammation.
If a pregnant mother has high levels of interleukin-8, there is an increased risk of schizophrenia in her offspring. High levels of Interleukin 8 have been shown to reduce the likelihood of positive responses to antipsychotic medication in schizophrenia.

LP18480-1 Tumor necrosis factor.alpha
Tumor necrosis factor (TNF, cachexin or cachectin and formally known as tumor necrosis factor-alpha) is a cytokine involved in systemic inflammation and is a member of a group of cytokines that stimulate the acute phase reaction.
The primary role of TNF is in the regulation of immune cells. TNF is able to induce apoptotic cell death, to induce inflammation, and to inhibit tumorigenesis and viral replication. Dysregulation of TNF production has been implicated in a variety of human diseases, as well as cancer. Recombinant TNF is used as an immunostimulant under the INN tasonermin.
