Ganglioside GT1a is a central nervous system ganglioside that is present in several cranial nerves, including oculomotor, glossopharyngeal and vagal nerves. Gangliosides without any sialic acid residues are called asialogangliosides, while those that do not have a ceramide N-acyl group are called lysogangliosides.
