LP40007-4 Thyrotropin receptor Ab
Thyrotropin receptor antibodies (TRAb) are autoantibodies to the thyroid-stimulating hormone receptor antigen.[PMID17900238] TRAb can be stimulating, blocking or growth-promoting to the thyroid leading to hyperthyroidism, hypothyroidism and endemic or sporadic goiters, respectively. PMID: 1633635 TRAb can be used to predict short-term reoccurrences of hyperthyroidism post antithyroid medication but is less capable of predicting long-term relapses or remissions. Increased TRAb in pregnant women with Graves' Disease is a risk factor for fetal hyperthyroidism. Patients with GD who have elevated TRAb are more likely to develop Graves' ophthalmopathy than GD patients with lower titers. PMID: 23539719
