Clostridium perfringens cpb2 gene [Presence] in Isolate by NAA with probe detection
Active
Part Description
LP262524-4 Clostridium perfringens cpb2 gene
Clostridium perfringens is a gram positive, anaerobic, rod-shaped bacterium. It is classified into five types designated A through E. Four toxins are produced by C. perfringens that have lethal, necrotic and cytotoxic capabilities. The four toxins are known as alpha-toxin, beta-toxin, epsilon-toxin and iota-toxin. PMID: 22069542 Beta2-toxin is encoded by the cpb2 gene. There is not very much data about the significance of the Clostridium perfringens beta2-toxin plays in disease pathogenesis. There has been evidence that beta2-toxin is associated with enteric disease in domestic animals, especially pigs and dogs. A notable correlation with piglets with enteritis and the presence of cpb2 has been observed. Beta2-toxin is encoded by the cpb2 gene. PMID: 15618211
