Mycobacterium preliminary growth [Presence] in Tissue by Organism specific culture
Active
Term Description
This term represents the preliminary step of the culture process that is used to determine whether or not viable Mycobacteria are present in the specimen. At the present time (2018), this result would typically be transmitted between laboratory devices and/or stored in the laboratory information system (LIS/LIMS), but it would not be used to order a culture or report culture results to the patient's electronic health record (EHR). Rather, the corresponding LOINC code with Property Prid and Scale Nom is used to order the culture, report this preliminary result, and report the results of any subsequent organism identification tests that are performed. This term was created for, but is not limited in use to, the bioMerieux BacT culture bottles for the recovery and detection of Mycobacteria.
