Krebs von den Lungren 6 (KL-6) is a glycoprotein that is a biomarker for connective tissue disorder-related interstitial lung disease (CTD-ILD). Serum KL-6 levels reflect the degree of damage to type II pneumocytes and are correlated with the severity of ILD as well as progression and prognosis for certain types of CTD-ILD, including that related to systemic sclerosis and inflammatory myositis.
