Transpulmonary pressure gradient (TPG) is the difference between the mean pulmonary arterial pressure and left atrial pressure, which may be approximated by the pulmonary capillary wedge pressure; it can be used to identify intrinsic pulmonary vascular disease in left-heart conditions with correlated increased pulmonary venous pressure.
