1-Hydroxymidazolam

Description
1-Hydroxymidazolam is an active metabolite of the drug midazolam (known by the brand names Dormicum, Hypnovel, and Versed). Although the metabolite is active, it is found in much smaller concentrations than the parent. Midazolam is metabolized by cytochrome C450 3A (CYP3A) primarily to 1-Hydroxymidazolam, but also in smaller amounts to 4-Hydroxymedazolam and also the 1,4 Dihydroxy form. Determining the conversion kinetics of midazolam has been proposed for CYP3A phenotyoing (Rapid Commun. Mass Spectrom. 2007; 21: 1531-1540). Source: Regenstrief LOINC
