Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae is species of gram-negative, facultatively anaerobic coccobacillus-shaped bacteria that has been isolated from pneumonic lesions and blood in pigs. It produces pneumonia with accompanying fibrinous pleuritis in swine. Source: National Library of Medicine, MeSH 2006
