Description

Isopropanol (C3H8O), also known as isopropyl alcohol, is a hydrocarbon prepared from propylene or from the reduction of acetone. This highly flammable alcohol is colorless and has a slight odor. Industrially, acetone is a component of antifreeze, industrial solvents, shellac, essintial oils and more. In cosmetic and medicinal products, acetone is used in body rubs, hand lotions, after shave lotions, and as an antiseptic. Human overexposure to isoproanol can result in central nervous depression, brain damage, vomiting, and other symptoms. [NLM_TOXN:a?dbs+hsdb:@term+@DOCNO+116] Source: Regenstrief LOINC
