Description

Hantaviruses are rodent-borne pathogens normally transmitted to humans via feces, urine, and saliva of infected rodents. Several human pathogenic hantavirus subtypes are known worldwide, including Hantaan, Dobrova, Seoul, Puumala, Sin Nombre and Saaremaa. Hantaviruses are known to cause haemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome (HFRS), kidney failure, acute respiratory distress syndrome, and Hantavirus pulmonary syndrome. Source: Regenstrief LOINC
