Description
Intercellular substance (ICS) antibodies are antibodies to any one of several intercellular antigens, including the desmosomal cadherins desmoglein 1 and 3, and desmocollin 1, 2, and 3, which play a role in cell to cell adhesion. ICS antibodies, especially of type IgG, are associated with paraneoplastic pemphigus (PNP), also known as paraneoplastic autoimmune multiorgan syndrome (PAMS), as well as with other forms of pemphigus including pemphigus foliaceus and pemphigus vulgaris. ICS antibody deposition has a characteristic web- or honeycomb-like fluorescent pattern. PMID: 31214197 Source: Regenstrief LOINC
