Averrhoa carambola is a species of woody plant in the family Oxalidaceae; it has a number of common names including Carambola and Starfruit. The fruit comes from a tree growing up to 12 metres. This tree has been cultivated in Southeast Asia and Malaysia for hundreds of years, and now is also found in many places in the New World with appropriate climates.
