Descriptions

A class of lipoproteins that carry dietary cholesterol and triglycerides from the small intestines to the tissues. Source: National Library of Medicine, MeSH 2006

Chylomicrons, also known as ultra low-density lipoproteins (ULDL), are lipoproteins made by intestinal cells that carry dietary lipids through the lymph system after they have been digested and absorbed into the lymphatic system. They consist of mostly triglycerides as well as phospholipids, cholesterol, and proteins. Chylomicrons are expected to be absent in body fluids. Source: Regenstrief Institute
