Version 2.78

Description

POL3RK gene encodes a small essential subunit (known as RP11) of RNA polymerase III, which synthesizes small RNAs such as 5S rRNA and tRNAs. The POL3RK protein plays a key role in sensing and reducing infection by intracellular bacteria and DNA viruses. It acts as a sensor involved in innate immune response. The presence of antibodies directed against POL3RK (anti-Polymerase, DNA-directed) are thought to be associated with systemic sclerosis (SSc), a connective tissue disease that affects the skin and internal organs.
