Description

Vitamin K is an essential cofactor for clotting factors II, VII, IX, X, protein C, and proteins. Patients with vitamin K deficiency have prolonged prothrombin clotting times. Dietary deficiency is rare, but deficiency may occur due to malabsorption, steatorrhea or certain antibiotics. Vitamin K may be used to treat warfarin overdose.
