A broad-spectrum penicillin antibiotic used orally in the treatment of mild to moderate infections by susceptible gram-positive organisms. Source: National Library of Medicine, MeSH 2006
Less than 10% of all adverse reactions to drugs have an immunological background, and only a part of those are IgE-mediated.
Drug therapy through oral administration is the main route of exposure to penicillin V. Minor routes of exposure are food consumption of animals treated with penicillin and inhalation of penicillin dust.
