Description
Casts are small mucoprotein tube-shaped structures formed in the distal convoluted tubules of the kidney. Waxy casts contain wax in their matrix and may cracks or have large ends that maybe be square or broken off. They are indicative of severe, chronic kidney disease such as reanl failure.
