Version 2.78

Description

The Avocado originated in Central and South America and spread to nearly all parts of the tropical and subtropical world with suitable environmental conditions. Among leading producers are the larger islands of the Caribbean, California, New Zealand, the Philippines, Australia, South Africa and several Mediterranean countries.

Avocado may commonly induce symptoms of food allergy in sensitised individuals (9,56-58), although the majority of reports describing allergy to Avocado do so in the context of cross-reactivity to Latex allergy ("Latex-fruit syndrome").
