Descriptions
The Cashew nut comes from the Cashew nut tree, a member of the Anacardiaceae family, which includes a number of dermatitis-inducing plants such as poison ivy, poison oak, poison sumac and lacquer sumac. The tree is native to Brazil but is grown in other parts of the world, and the nut is now also exported from southern India, Mozambique, Tanzania and Kenya.
Cashew nut may commonly induce symptoms of food allergy, atopic dermatitis and other hypersensitivity reactions in sensitised individuals.

The cashew is in the family Anacardiaceae. Its English name derives from the Portuguese name for the fruit of the cashew tree, caju, which in turn derives from the indigenous Tupi name, acajú. It is now widely grown in tropical climates for its cashew nuts and cashew apples. Copyright Text is available under the Creative Commons Attribution/Share-Alike License.
