Bayberry is a member of the Myrica genus, consisting of about 35-50 species of small trees and shrubs in the family Myricaceae, order Fagales. Members of the genus are found in Africa, Asia, Europe, North America and South America, but not Australasia.
Allergy to pollen from Bayberry has not been commonly reported.
