Alpha-amanitin+gamma-amanitin
Active
Description
Mushroom toxicity occurs due to ingestion of poisonous mushrooms. The main toxic actions are caused by amanitins, which occur in the extremely poisonous toadstools such as Amanita phalloides (death cap), Amanita verna (white death cap), Amanita virosa (destroying angel) and other Amanita species. These species of mushrooms are responsible for the most severe cases of mushroom toxicity and a very high mortality rate. Ninety-five percent of fatal cases worldwide are due to the Amanitin phalloides syndrome. Urinalysis is performed for the diagnosis and management of mushroom poisoning. The toxins are detected in urine samples within 6 - 60 hours after ingestion. Source: Regenstrief LOINC
