Description
Swordfish is an enormous mackerel-like fish representing the only member of the family Xiphidae.
A patient with clinical sensitivity to swordfish had IgE antibodies to a 25 kD protein but to no other protein from 10 fish species tested. The allergen may be specific for the family Xiphidae.
